In order to progress, we need to understand history and how it plays a role in the events we see today. British Black history is often omitted or taught under the umbrella of colonialism and slavery. However, this makes up a small percentage of the journey of black people in the UK. Not enough light is shed on the positive contributions black people have made and how ingrained we are in British history. Over the pond, black people are being oppressed through the very system that promises to 'serve and protect'.
We can no longer sit back and watch this happen.
We need to Educate, Participate and Activate if we are to see change in our society.
“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.”— Desmond Tutu
